Handy Hints and Tips
-
Feeding Your Fish (The Fun Part!)
Your fish will appreciate regular meals. A small pinch of high-quality fish food once a day is usually perfect. Don't overfeed, as uneaten food can make the water cloudy. If you're unsure, it's always better to feed a little less than too much.
-
Topping Up Evaporated Water
Just like any open body of water, some of your aquarium water will evaporate over time. When you notice the water level dropping, simply top it up with fresh, dechlorinated water.
-
Managing Floating Plants
Your aquarium might have some lovely floating plants. While they're great for aesthetics and providing cover, they can sometimes multiply quickly and block light from reaching the plants below. If you notice them getting a bit too dense, simply gently remove any excess floating plants to maintain balance and ensure your submerged plants get enough light.

Boosting Your Plants with Aqua-Fert
Your aquatic plants are the heart of your scape, and they love a little pick-me-up! Add one drop of our Aqua-Fertilser liquid once every two weeks. If you notice your plants' leaves starting to look a bit yellow, you can bump that up to one drop every week until they regain their vibrant green.
-
Don't Forget Water Conditioner!
Before adding any tap water to your aquarium (whether for topping up or a future water change), always remember to add a good quality water conditioner. This vital step removes harmful chlorine and chloramines from tap water, making it safe for your fish and plants.

Trimming Your Stem Plants (Keeping it Tidy!)
Many aquariums feature beautiful stem plants that grow upwards. Over time, these plants will grow long and might even reach the water's surface. When they get too long, simply trim them back to your desired height. You can often replant the trimmed tops into the substrate to create more plants, or simply discard them if you have enough. Trimming encourages bushier growth and keeps your aquascape looking neat and tidy!
